The Scott Foil RC 20 Bike brings Scott's aero road platform down to a price where more riders can buy into it. It has a Foil RC HMX carbon frame and fork, Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting with hydraulic disc brakes, and 50mm-deep Syncros Capital wheels. Everything on the spec sheet points toward riding fast, not toward a wish list of upgrades. This is a complete aero road bike you can race or train on as delivered.
Scott has been building bikes since 1958, when Ed Scott started the company in Sun Valley, Idaho, and the Foil is where the brand focuses its work on aerodynamics. The idea behind an aero road bike is simple: most road racing and fast group riding happens at speeds where drag is the biggest force you are working against, so a frame shaped to manage airflow can be worth more than a few saved grams. The Foil RC 20 uses Foil RC HMX carbon for both frame and fork, a step below the HMX SL used on Scott's top builds, and the Syncros Foil 1.5 Aero stem and Creston 2.0 Aero handlebar continue the aero theme at the front of the bike.
Drivetrain and braking
Shimano 105 Di2 is the electronic version of Shimano's most popular road groupset, and the R7150 derailleurs and R7170 shifters are what you get here. Shifts are the same push of a button whether you are in the big ring or the small one, and the system does not drift out of adjustment the way cable shifting can. The 12-speed cassette runs 11-34, paired with a 52/36 Shimano 105 crankset. That gearing gives you a big ring for fast, flat roads and a 36x34 low gear for steeper climbs, which makes sense on a bike meant to be ridden everywhere, not only on race courses.
Stopping comes from Shimano 105 R7170 hydraulic disc brakes with CL700 rotors, 160mm in front and 140mm in back. Hydraulic discs give consistent lever feel and stopping power in wet weather and on long descents, which is worth having on a bike that carries speed the way an aero frame does.
Wheels, tires, and contact points
The Syncros Capital 1.0 wheels have a 50mm rim depth, a common choice for aero bikes because it offers a useful reduction in drag without being as demanding to handle in crosswinds as deeper rims. They come fitted with Schwalbe Pro One Aero tires in 700x28 with TL-Easy tubeless-ready construction. A 28mm tire is a sensible width for a modern race bike, with more grip and comfort than the narrow tires of a decade ago and little penalty on smooth pavement.
The contact points are all Syncros, Scott's sister brand: a Belcarra V 2.0 cut-out saddle with CrMo rails and Syncros RC bar tape. Pedals are not included, so you can fit whichever system you already ride.
Sizing and colors
The Foil RC 20 comes in seven sizes, XXS through XXL, which is a wider range than many bikes at this price and helps smaller and taller riders find a real fit. Two colorways are offered, Paradise Green over Carbon Black and Cumulus White over Carbon Black. The bike has a combined weight limit of 264 lbs covering bike, rider, equipment and any luggage, as specified by Scott.
At $5,299.99, the Foil RC 20 suits riders who want an aero race-style bike with electronic shifting and disc brakes, without paying for the top-tier parts on the Foil RC Ultimate. It is a good fit for group riders, newer racers, and anyone stepping up to a carbon aero platform.
